Christmas Gift Note

Friday, December 23, 2011
Thursday december 22th,it was about 3pm when I sat at sofa in my home..

I thaught it was 2days before christmas, and I wondering what should I bring to celebrate 'His birthday'. I recalled what i've promised from last year's christmas for Him,and I found it out,im failed. I asked what should I do. God is good,He said clearly into my heart, 'the best gift u can bring is YOU'.. I was so affected and I felt how special I am in His eyes. So prepare yourself as a best gift for Him!don't be like Martha who has been too busy with unimportant things,be like Mary who prepared herself well as a best gift for Jesus..

Journey

Thursday, July 14, 2011
I don't remember exactly when i started
I don't know where i started
I even don't know when i will arrive
But one i know, where my goal is

But is it the right way?
Yes it is!!
Right way doesn't mean there's no any problem right?
Right way doesn't mean flawless right?

I just can find one word in my mind
Walk!!
Walk!!
Walk!!

Dear pain
Dear ruination
I assert you
You won't be able to stop me!

It's true that i'm slow walker
BUT I NEVER WALK BACK!!

Cerita Kita - Piano (I made this song when i was senior high school)

Cerita Kita
Our Story

Verse 1:

Tak tahan hati ini
(I can’t endure my heartbreak          )
Melihat berjalannya waktu
(See time passed by)
Hari demi hari tlah kita lewati
(Day by day we through)
tanpa terasa s'karang
(unnoticed, and now)
waktu untuk berpisah..
(is the time that we have to separate)

reff:
Apakah kita benar-benar tak bisa
(Is it impossible for us)
Menjadi kekasih sperti dalam cerita
(To be a couple like the love story)

Banyak kenangan,telah kita lewati
(Many memories we through)

menangis,tertawa
(Crying, laughing)

semua terangkum dalam cerita kita..
(They are all in our story)

Verse 2:
Telah lama tersimpan
(It takes a long time)

perasaanku padamu...
(My feeling to you)

Yang terlalu sakit untuk dikenang,
(It’s too hurt to remember)

namun terlalu indah untuk dilupakan
(but too beautiful to forget)

reff:
Ku hanya bilang
(I just want to say)

aku sayang padamu..
(I love you)

Karena tak bisa
(because it can’t be said)

tanpa sebuah lagu..
(without a song)

Tidak peduli apakah jawabanmu
(I don’t care what is your answer)

tetapi, yang pasti,
(but, it is sure)

ini tulus dari dalam hatiku..

It's inspired by my traveling today around Bandung..

Started when i saw one foreigner at Purnawarman Street. I don't know why, when i saw him,i directly come and introduce myself. He's friendly enough, his name is Samuel from Canada. He's in holiday.
It's our conversation thereabouts

Me:"hai.."
Sam :" helo.."
Me:" Where do you come from?"
Sam :" Canada"

Me:" Wow!Are you in holiday?"
Sam :"Yes,alone "

Me:" So,how can you know Bandung?"
Sam :" From my friends,i knew them from Facebook. So i decided to come.I like adventure"

Me:" How long have you been in Bandung?"
Sam : (i forget exactly,but it's about August 25-30)

Me:" For Canadian,Bandung's price must be cheap right?"Sam :" Yes it's true,Canada's much more expensive.But i'm student,so i'm very poor."

Me:" Haha..What's your favorite food in Bandung?"
Sam:" A lot;pempek,satay,batagor (he said many more,but i forget)"
Me:" Wow,how can you remember the name?haha..Don't you like nasi goreng?"
Sam:" At first i like, but, breakfast lunch and dinner i eat, bored of it.Im living with my friend and they cook me nasi foreng everyday."
Me:" Hahaha..I see. What's your favorite thing in Bandung?
Sam:" Girl!"
Me:" (im quite for a while,i didn't know what must i said)..Oo..Many western people love it"
Sam:" Yeah,Asian girl is so beautiful. But they're not sexy. That's what i look for in Indonesia.Yesterday i was clubbing at ****** and many beautiful girls there."
Me:" hehe..Don't you have girlfriend?"
Sam:" I don't..I've ever had,but she's suck. I need no girlfriend.I can around the world and find it at everywhere..Life is suck, then you die"
Me:" (im speechless) Oh ya,what's your name?I'm Clement."
Sam:" Samuel ******* ,you can add me on Facebook"
(His phone rang, and he said his friend would pick him up to go)
Me:" Okay,i'll add you when im at home.I should go now."
Sam:" No,you could stay,we can go together."
Me:" I'm sorry,my friends are waiting for me"

Sam:" Oh,ok.."
Me:" Have a nice day"
Sam:" You too"

Many people don't know what's life for. They just know about having fun,but i'm sure they don't get what they want. They try to find happiness and peace around the world.
But it's ironic, many people don't know where they could find it.They even choose to be a sinner.
I think there's only one who can satisfy us for that things. He's Jesus!!
I guarantee when you know and have an experience with Him,your life will be changed. You'll get what you've never got before.

If He's all you have then you have all that you need..

But it's hard to open my eyes

When everything seem go wrong
It hits me so strong
I just say a little pray
And thank You God

I'm thinking of her

I thank God for many good things that happened to me
I thank God for everything
I thank God for thing that i call "heaven"
I thank God for the moments that we both have spent

even as a friend....

I Wish You Enough

Some time ago, I overheard a mother and daughter in their last moments together at the airport.
Staying near the security gate, they hugged, and the mother said, “I love you, and I wish you enough.”
The daughter answered, “Mom, our life together has been more than enough. Your love is all I ever needed. I wish you enough, too, Mom.”
They kissed, and the daughter left. The mother walked over to the window where I was seated. Standing there, I could see she wanted and needed to cry. I tried not to intrude on her privacy, but she welcomed me in by asking, “Did you ever say good-bye to someone knowing it would be forever?”
Yes, I have,” I replied. “Forgive me for asking, but why is this a forever good-bye?”
“I am old, and she lives so far away. I have challenges ahead, and the reality is – her next trip back will be for my funeral,” she said.
“When you were saying good-bye, I heard you say, ‘I wish you enough.’ May I ask what that means?”
She began to smile. “That’s a wish that has been handed down from other generations. My parents used to say it to everyone.” She paused a moment and looked up as if trying to remember it in detail, and she smiled even more. “When we said, ‘I wish you enough,’ we were wanting the other person to have a life filled with just enough good things to sustain them.”

Life Struggles

Sunday, May 15, 2011
A man found a cocoon of an emperor moth. He took it home so that he could watch the moth come out of the cocoon. On the day a small opening appeared, he sat and watched the moth for several hours as the moth struggled to force the body through that little hole.
The moth seemed to be stuck and appeared to have stopped making progress. It seemed as if it had gotten as far as it could and it could go no farther. The man, in his kindness, decided to help the moth; so he took a pair of scissors and snipped off the remaining bit of the cocoon. The moth then emerged easily. But its body was swollen and small, its wings wrinkled and shriveled. The man continued to watch the moth because he expected that, at any moment, the wings would enlarge and expand to and able to support the body, which would contract in time. Neither happened! In fact, the little moth spent the rest of its life crawling around with a small, swollen body and shriveled wings. It never was able to fly. The man in his kindness and haste did not understand that the struggle required for the moth to get through the tiny opening was necessary to force fluid from the body of the moth into its wings so that it would be ready for flight upon achieving its freedom from the cocoon. Freedom and flight would only come after the struggle. By depriving the moth of a struggle, he deprived the moth of health.
Sometimes struggles are exactly what we need in our life. If we were to go through our life without any obstacles, we would be crippled. We would not be as strong as what we could have been. Give every opportunity a chance, leave no room for regrets, and don't forget the power in the struggle.

Judge by The Looks

A lady in a faded gingham dress and her husband, dressed in a homespun threadbare suit, stepped off the train in Boston, and walked timidly without an appointment into the president's outer office. The secretary could tell in a moment that such backwoods, country hicks had no business at Harvard and probably didn't even deserve to be in Cambridge. She frowned.
"We want to see the president," the man said softly.
"He'll be busy all day," the secretary snapped.
"We'll wait," the lady replied.
For hours, the secretary ignored them, hoping that the couple would finally become discouraged and go away. They didn't. And the secretary grew frustrated and finally decided to disturb the president, even though it was a chore she always regretted to do. "Maybe if they just see you for a few minutes, they'll leave," she told him. And he sighed in exasperation and nodded. Someone of his importance obviously didn't have the time to spend with them, but he detested gingham dresses and homespun suits cluttering up his outer office. The president, stern-faced with dignity, strutted toward the couple.
The lady told him, "We had a son that attended Harvard for one year. He loved Harvard. He was happy here. But about a year ago, he was accidentally killed. And my husband and I would like to erect a memorial to him, somewhere on campus". The president wasn't touched he was shocked.
"Madam," he said gruffly, "we can't put up a statue for every person who attended Harvard and died. If we did, this place would look like a cemetery."
"Oh, no," the lady explained quickly, "we don't want to erect a statue. We thought we would like to give a building to Harvard.
The president rolled his eyes. He glanced at the gingham dress and
homespun suit, then exclaimed, "A building! Do you have any earthly idea how much a building costs? We have over seven and a half million dollars in the physical plant at Harvard." For a moment the lady was silent.
The president was pleased. He could get rid of them now.
The lady turned to her husband and said quietly, "Is that all it costs to start a University? Why don't we just start our own?" Her husband nodded. The president's face wilted in confusion and bewilderment.
Mr. and Mrs. Leland Stanford walked away, traveling to Palo Alto, California where they established the University that bears their name, a memorial to a son that Harvard no longer cared about!

God's Cofee

Monday, April 11, 2011
God's Coffee

A group of alumni, highly established in their careers, got together to visit their old university professor. Conversation soon turned into complaints about stress in work and life.

Offering his guests coffee, the professor went to the kitchen and returned with a large pot of coffee and an assortment of cups - porcelain, plastic, glass, crystal, some plain looking, some
expensive, some exquisite - telling them to help themselves to the coffee.

When all the students had a cup of coffee in hand, the professor said:

"If you noticed, all the nice looking expensive cups were taken up, leaving behind the plain and cheap ones. While it is normal for you to want only the best for yourselves, that is the source of your problems and stress.

Be assured that the cup itself adds no quality to the coffee. In most cases it is just more expensive and in some cases even hides what we drink.

What all of you really wanted was coffee, not the cup, but you consciously went for the best cups... And then you began eyeing each other's cups.

Now consider this: Life is the coffee; the jobs, money and position in society are the cups. They are just tools to hold and contain Life, and the type of cup we have does not define, nor change the quality of Life we live.

Sometimes, by concentrating only on the cup, we fail to enjoy the coffee God has provided us."

God brews the coffee, not the cups.......... Enjoy your coffee!

"The happiest people don't have the best of everything. They just make the best of everything."

Live simply. Love generously. Care deeply. Speak kindly. Leave the rest to God.

It's All In A Smile

It's All In A Smile
by Dave Wilton

When you think of the things that can happen in life.
The worries, the trouble, the stress and the strife.
One thing is forgotten, and can change things around.
That thing is a smile and can be found in abound.

The Christie Hospital in Manchester, the first thing you see,
is a smile on a face, to a stranger, to me.
And it's not a rare thing because wherever you go,
There's always a smile, a warm face and a glow.

The staff are fantastic, give a feeling of calm,
you truly believe you'll come to no harm.
And just how do they do it? With composure and guile,
as they go through their day with their eminent smile.

But one thing inspires, the patients, each one.
Despite the state of their health, not one will be done
out of the smile that spreads 'cross their faces,
a mixture of all types of gender and races.

As I look around, take encouragement and strength.
I'll fit into this group, no matter what length.
To come out of this a much stronger being.
I plan to smile more each day, now I've learned it's true meaning,

Love Poem

Thursday, March 31, 2011
Love is the joy of the good,
the wonder of the wise,
the amazement of the Gods.

The most important thing in life
is to learn how to give out love,
and to let it come in.
Let it come in.
We think we don't deserve love,
we think if we let it in
we'll become too soft.
But a wise man named Levine
said it right. He said,
'Love is the only rational act.'

It is well to be happy and wise
and well to be honest and true;
it is well to be off with the old love,
before you are on with the new.

Love is the wisdom of the fool
and the folly of the wise.

Love can be an enemy or a friend;
it can be a poison or a remedy;
it can kill or give life to others,
so use it wisely.

The more you get hurt
in the world of love,
the wiser you are in the life of love.

Love ... it is merely a word
that we all try to define
to ease our search for true love.
It has a different meaning for everyone.
Trying to define it will only
make it harder to find.
So, why not find it first?
Then you come up with
a fancy definition for it later
and sound all wise,
because then you'll know
what you're talking about.

Oh, Love is the crooked thing,
there is nobody wise enough
to find out all that is in it,
for he will be thinking about love
til the stars run away and
the shadows eaten the moon...

Love

Love

Love is friendship that has caught fire. It is quiet understanding, mutual confidence, sharing and forgiving. It is loyalty through good and bad times. It settles for less than perfection and makes allowances for human weakness.

Love is content with the present, it hopes for the future, and it doesn’t brood over the past. It’s the day-in and day-out chronicle of irritations, problems, compromises, small disappointments, big victories and working toward common goals.

If you have love in your life, it can make up for a great many things that are missing. If you don’t have love in your life, no matter what else there is, it’s not enough

Special Delivery

Sally jumped up as soon as she saw the Surgeon come out of the operating room, saying: "How is my little boy? Is he going to be O.K.? When can I see him?"
The surgeon responded, "I'm sorry, we did all we could." Sally said, "Why do little children get cancer, doesn't GOD care any more? GOD, where were you when my son needed you?"
The surgeon softly told her, "One of the nurses will be out in a few minutes to let you spend time with your son's remains before it's transported to the university".
Sally asked that the nurse stay with her while she said good-bye to her son. As she ran her fingers through his thick red curly hair, the nurse said, "Would you like a lock of his hair?"
Sally nodded yes. The nurse cut a lock of his hair and put it in a plastic bag and handed it to Sally.
She gazed at her son’s body as she spoke to the nurse.
"It was Jimmy's idea to give his body to the university for study. He said it might help somebody else, and that is what he wanted. I said, no at first, but Jimmy said, ‘Mom I won't be using it after I die, maybe it will help some other little boy to be able to spend one more day with his mother’. My Jimmy had a heart of gold, always thinking of someone else and always wanting to help others if he could".

Sally walked out of the Children's Hospital for the last time now after spending most of the last 6 months there. She sat the bag with Jimmy's things in it on the seat beside of her in the car. The drive home was hard and it was even harder to go into an empty house. She took the bag to Jimmy's room and started placing the model cars and things back in his room exactly where he always kept them. She lay down across his bed and cried herself to sleep holding his pillow. Sally woke up about midnight and lying beside her on the bed, was a letter folded up.
She opened the letter, it said:
Dear Mom,
I know you're going to miss me, but don't think that I will ever forget you or stop loving you because I'm not around to say I LOVE YOU. I'll think of you every day mom and I'll love you even more each day. Some day we will see each other again. If you want to adopt a little boy so you won't be so lonely, he can have my room and my old stuff to play with. If you decide to get a girl instead, she probably wouldn't like the same things as us boys do, so you will have to buy her dolls and stuff girls like.
Don't be sad when you think about me, this is really a great place. Grandma and Grandpa met me as soon as I got here and showed me around some, but it will take a long time to see everything here.
The Angels are so friendly, and I love to watch them fly. Jesus doesn't look like any of the pictures I saw of Him, but I knew it was Him as soon as I saw Him. Jesus took me to see GOD! And guess what mom? I got to sit on GOD'S knee and talk to Him like I was somebody important. I told GOD that I wanted to write you a letter and tell you good-bye and everything, but I knew that wasn't allowed. God handed me some paper and His own personal pen to write you this letter with. I think Gabriel is the name of the angel that is going to drop this letter off to you. God said for me to give you the answer to one of the questions you asked Him about... “Where was He when I needed him?”
God said, "The same place He was when Jesus was on the cross. He was right there, as He always is with all His children.” Oh, by the way Mom, nobody else can see what is written on this paper but you. To everyone else, it looks like a blank piece of paper.
I have to give God His pen back now, He has some more names to write in the Book Of Life. Tonight I get to sit at the table with Jesus for supper. I'm sure the food will be great. I almost forgot to let you know - now I don't hurt anymore, the cancer is all gone. I'm glad because I couldn't stand that pain anymore and God couldn't stand to see me suffer the pain either, so He sent The Angel of Mercy to get me. The Angel said I was Special Delivery!

Important Question

During my second month of nursing school, our professor gave us a pop quiz. I was a conscientious student and had breezed through the questions, until I read the last one: 'What is the first name of the woman who cleans the school?" Surely this was some kind of joke. I had seen the cleaning woman several times. She was tall, dark-haired and in her 50s, but how would I know her name? I handed in my paper, leaving the last question blank. Before class ended, one student asked if the last question would count toward our quiz grade. Absolutely, said the professor. "In your careers you will meet many people. All are significant. They deserve your attention and care, even if all you do is smile and say hello". I've never forgotten that lesson. I also learned her name was Dorothy.

Winners of Ice Dancing 2006 Torino Italy

Winners of Ice Dancing 2006 Torino Italy

In China back in the 1970’s most of the people were isolated from the world with no outside TV or news. China decided to enter ice dancing in the Olympics and called upon a boy named Yoew Bin who grew up skating.

The Chinese started training couples for intering the skating competition. Because of the isolation of China, they only had to go by some imported newspaper clippings and what their inexperienced coaches knew.

Even though they were rusty they left China for the first time to enter the World Championships. There was not enough money for the coaches to go so they went alone, not knowing anything about the world outside China and only speaking Chinese. Their skating was terrible in competition and they fell many times. The crowd laughed at them as they left the ice. Yeow Bin left the ice dejected but determined.

Over the next 30 years he became a coach and with great determination he developed the Chinese ice skaters into world-class competitors.

Shen and Zhao were his skaters that he trained in China over the last few years and planned on entering them into the 2006 Olympics.

But the male skater had an accident 2 years ago and cut his Achilles tendon in two. He had surgery to repair his tendon and many people doubted he would skate again.

He continued to train as best he could with his foot in a cast.

The couple trained and practiced hard. Zhao had to get a special ice skate shoe big enough to support his repaired heel.

They entered into 2006 Olympics

and Monday night won third place Bronze.

Yeow’s other skating team was Zhang Hao and Zhang Dan. They were a dynamic couple with very good jumps.

They decided to try what had never been done in Olympic history: a quadruple salchow. Monday night he threw Zhang Dan into the air for this never been done maneuver.

She landed wrong and crashed to the ice damaging her left knee.

She could barely stand after sliding into the retaining wall.

She was helped off the ice where she was checked over by coach Yeow Bin. After a few minutes they decided to try and finish their performance and pickup where they left off.

They skated carefully for the next part of their routine.

And finished the rest of their performance flawlessly to the standing ovation of the whole coliseum. Even with the fall, they won second place receiving the silver medal. Many couples would have quit after such an embarrassing and painful fall.

And then there was the Russian Couple Totmiyanina and Marinin.

They had an accident 1 year ago in competition when during a hand lift maneuver his skate caught an edge.

Marinin fell to the ice hitting her head and knocked unconscious.

She was put in the hospital a few days where she regained consciousness. He was devastated and lost all of his confidence. Many skaters would have quit after such a tragedy.

They gradually skated simple moves and advanced back to jumps and lifts.

Monday night they skated their best and won the Gold.

All three of these couples over came setbacks, hardships, and physical pain.

There is a Chinese saying:

The strong and beautiful tree of success
grows from the seedling of failure and struggle.

You will only achieve your goals by hard work and determination.

Title: Lifehouse - Everything lyrics

Artist: Lifehouse Lyrics

Find Me Here
Speak To Me
I want to feel You
I need to hear You
You are the light
That's leading me
To the place where I find peace again.

You are the strength, that keeps me walking.
You are the hope, that keeps me trusting.
You are the light to my soul.
You are my purpose...you're everything.

How can I stand here with You and not be moved by You?
Would You tell me how could it be any better than this?

You calm the storms, and You give me rest.
You hold me in your hands,You won't let me fall.
You steal my heart, and You take my breath away.
Would you take me in? Take me deeper now?

How can I stand here with You and not be moved by You?
Would You tell me how could it be any better than this?
And how can I stand here with you and not be moved by You?
Would You tell me how could it be any better than this?

Cause You're all I want, You're all I need
You're everything,everything
You're all I want your all I need
You're everything, everything.
You're all I want you're all I need.
You're everything, everything
You're all I want you're all I need, you're everything, everything.

And How can I stand here with You and not be moved by You?
Would You tell me how could it be any better than this?
How can I stand here with you and not be moved by You?
Would you tell me how could it be any better than this?

How can I stand here with you and not be moved by You?
Would You tell me how could it be any better than this?

Would You tell me how could it be any better than this?

The Power of Your Actions

The Power of Your Actions

One day, when I was a freshman in high school, I saw a kid from my class walking home from school. His name was Kyle. It looked like he was carrying all of his books. I thought to myself, "Why would anyone bring home all his books on a Friday? He must really be a nerd." I had quite a weekend planned (parties and a football game with my friend the following afternoon), so I shrugged my shoulders and went on.

As I was walking, I saw a bunch of kids running toward him. They ran at him, knocking all his books out of his arms and tripping him so he landed in the dirt. His glasses went flying, and I saw them land in the grass about ten feet from him. He looked up and I saw this terrible sadness in his eyes.

My heart went out to him. So, I jogged over to him, and as he crawled around looking for his glasses, I saw a tear in his eye.
I handed him his glasses and said, "Those guys are jerks. They really should get lives.
He looked at me and said, "Hey, thanks!" There was a big smile on his face. It was one of those smiles that showed real gratitude. I helped him pick up his books, and asked him where he lived. It turned out he lived near me, so I asked him why I had never seen him before. He said he had gone to private school before coming to this school.

I would have never hung out with a private school kid before. We talked all the way home, and I carried his books. He turned out to be a pretty cool kid. I asked him if he wanted to play football on Saturday with me and my friends. He said yes. We hung all weekend and the more I got to know Kyle, the more I liked him. And my friends thought the same of him. Monday morning came, and there was Kyle with the huge stack of books again. I stopped him and said, "Damn boy, you are gonna really build some serious muscles with this pile of books everyday!". He just laughed and handed me half the books. Over the next four years, Kyle and I became best friends.

When we were seniors, we began to think about college. Kyle decided on Georgetown, and I was going to Duke. I knew that we would always be friends, that the miles would never be a problem. He was going to be a doctor, and I was going for business on a football scholarship. Kyle was valedictorian of our class.

I teased him all the time about being a nerd. He had to prepare a speech for graduation. I was so glad it wasn't me having to get up there and speak.

Graduation day arrived - I saw Kyle and he looked great. He was one of those guys that really found himself during high school. He filled out and actually looked good in glasses. He had more dates than me and all the girls loved him!

Boy, sometimes I was jealous. Today was one of those days. I could see that he was nervous about his speech. So, I smacked him on the back and said, "Hey, big guy, you'll be great!"

He looked at me with one of those looks (the really grateful one) and smiled. "Thanks," he said. As he started his speech, he cleared his throat, and began. "Graduation is a time to thank those who helped you make it through those tough years. Your parents, your teachers, your siblings, maybe a coach... but mostly your friends. I am here to tell all of you that being a friend to someone is the best gift you can give them. I am going to tell you a story."

I stared at my friend in disbelief as he told the story of the first day we met. He had planned to kill himself over the weekend. He talked of how he had cleaned out his locker so his Mom wouldn't have to do it later and was carrying his stuff home. He looked hard at me and gave me a little smile. "Thankfully, I was saved. My friend saved me from doing the unspeakable."

I heard the gasp go through the crowd as this handsome, popular boy told us all about his weakest moment. I saw his Mom and dad looking at me and smiling that same grateful smile. Not until that moment did I realize its depth.

Never underestimate the power of your actions. With one small gesture you can change a person's life. For better or for worse. God puts us all in each other's lives to impact one another in some way. Look for God in others.

"Friends are angels who lift us to our feet when our wings have trouble remembering how to fly."

The Best Gift

THE BEST GIFT

I love happy endings. In my children's book Marie and her friend the Sea Turtle I made sure to change real life experience into a happy ending. The short story "THE BEST GIFT" also has a happy ending because this time it really happened. I have seen and observed a lot during the past 25 years as a teacher. Some very good, some very bad. This short story is about true events that took place . Hope you all enjoy reading it.

The Best Gift

Johnny lay listless in his hospital bed. Next to his bed are his mom and dad. They are energy less from lack of sleep and worry about their only son. They have prayed day and night hoping for the best, wishing and wanting to find the right donor to help safe their son’s life. Destiny has dealt them a very cruel hand. Their son was diagnosed with a liver disorder and must have a liver transplant for any chance of survival.

Time has stood still for the Smith family. They are still patiently waiting for the best gift of all, the gift of life. The wealth and fortune the Smith have amassed through all of their real estate investments cannot buy them what they want the most, a healthy vibrant liver for their son. The only choice is to wait and hope for the best!

The sun pierced through the curtained window illuminating the Smith’s master suite. Annabel Smith lazily opened her eyes feeling extremely tired from too many sleepless nights. As she struggled to get out of bed, the telephone rang. She grabbed the receiver. “Hello, this is Dr. Nolan; I believe we have found a liver for Johnny.” Mrs. Smith’s heart pounded in her chest like the drumming of heavy rain. A sense of joy enveloped her entire being.
“Thank you so much Dr. Nolan,” replied Annabel
“I will get back with you as soon as all the details for surgery are finalized,” explained Dr. Nolan. “Very well,” answered Mrs. Smith.

Mr. & Mrs. Smith paced back and forth in the waiting area. All they could do at this point was to wait to hear from Dr. Nolan. Annabel Smith buried her face in her hands, her husband trying his best to stay calm and strong. “Oh my God,” muttered Annabel. “I hope everything is well, it has been six hours now.” “Don’t worry, everything will be fine,” replied Mr. Smith. Annabel turned away as if her husband hadn’t even spoken. Involuntarily she shivered from fear brought on by the possibility that Johnny might not make it. The pounding in her chest made her breathing quite laborious. Her mind kept coming back to the year when liver failure claimed the life of her beloved father. Her mind was reeling with questions to God. Understanding had surpassed her. Yet in the confusion, in the despair, for some reason Annabel had hope. And hope is freedom from the fear of losing the best gift ever given to her, HER LITTLE JOHNNY.

After what seemed to have been an eternity, Dr. Nolan walked into the waiting area... and said the following “I have some very good news, I am happy to report that the surgery went very well and we were able to detect bile production early after surgery, I also want to inform you that patients aged 17-34 have the highest life expectancy: 28 years post-transplant,” explained Dr. Nolan. Upon hearing this news the Smiths felt the weight of the world rolling off their shoulders, their frown curved into a huge smile. “Thank you so very much Dr. Nolan,” declared Mr. & Mrs. Smith.
Johnny remained in ICU for four days and after a month stay at the hospital he was allowed to go home.

It has been six years since Johnny had his liver transplant. Johnny remains very upbeat even though he has to remain on anti-rejection medication for the rest of his life. At the young age of twenty-four he is completely dedicated to helping his parents run the SMITH FOUNDATION. Through this foundation the Smiths have made it possible for countless number of post-transplant patients to have frequent health monitoring and home visits. The Smiths were able to replace the bitterness that spawned from their son’s illness with compassion. They have a new mission in life: To provide the less fortunate with the financial backup so they too can have access to THE BEST GIFT: LIFE!

Passing Along A Little Spark

Passing Along A Little Spark

Robby was 11 years old when his mother (a single mom) dropped him off for his first piano lesson. I prefer that students (especially boys!) begin at an earlier age, which I explained to Robby. But Robby said that it had always been his mother's dream to hear him play the piano. So I took him as a student. Well, Robby began with his piano lessons and from the beginning I thought it was a hopeless endeavor. As much as Robby tried, he lacked the sense of tone and basic rhythm needed to excel. But he dutifully reviewed his scales and some elementary pieces that I require all my students to learn.

Over the months he tried and tried while I listened and cringed and tried to encourage him. At the end of each weekly lesson he'd always say, "My mom's going to hear me play someday." But it seemed hopeless. He just did not have any inborn ability. I only knew his mother from a distance as she dropped Robby off or waited in her aged car to pick him up. She always waved and smiled but never stopped in.

Then one day Robby stopped coming to our lessons. I thought about calling him but assumed, because of his lack of ability, that he had decided to pursue something else. I also was glad that he stopped coming. He was a bad advertisement for my teaching!

Several weeks later I mailed to the student's homes a flyer on the upcoming recital. To my surprise Robby (who received a flyer) asked me if he could be in the recital. I told him that the recital was for current pupils and because he had dropped out he really did not qualify. He said that his mom had been sick and unable to take him to piano lessons but he was still practicing. "Miss Hondorf... I've just got to play!" he insisted. I don't know what led me to allow him to play in the recital. Maybe it was his persistence or maybe it was something inside of me saying that it would be all right.

The night for the recital came. The high school gymnasium was packed with parents, friends and relatives. I put Robby up last in the program before I was to come up and thank all the students and play a finishing piece. I thought that any damage he would do would come at the end of the program and I could always salvage his poor performance through my "curtain closer."

Well, the recital went off without a hitch. The students had been practicing and it showed. Then Robby came up on stage. His clothes were wrinkled and his hair looked like he'd run an eggbeater through it. "Why didn't he dress up like the other students?" I thought. "Why didn't his mother at least make him comb his hair for this special night?"

Robby pulled out the piano bench and he began. I was surprised when he announced that he had chosen Mozart's Concerto #21 in C Major. I was not prepared for what I heard next. His fingers were light on pianissimo to fortissimo...from allegro to virtuoso.
His suspended chords that Mozart demands were magnificent! Never had I heard Mozart played so well by a person his age. After six and a half minutes he ended in a grand crescendo and everyone was on their feet in wild applause. Overcome and in tears I ran up on stage and put my arms around Robby in joy. "I've never heard you play like that Robby! How'd you do it?" Through the microphone Robby explained: "Well Miss Hondorf...remember I told you my mom was sick? Well, actually she had cancer and passed away this morning. And well....she was born deaf so tonight was the first time she ever heard me play. I wanted to make it special." There wasn't a dry eye in the house that evening. As the people from Social Services led Robby from the stage to be placed into foster care, I noticed that even their eyes were red and puffy and I thought to myself how much richer my life had been for taking Robby as my pupil. No, I've never had a protigi but that night I became a protigi... of Robby's. He was the teacher and I was the pupil. For it is he that taught me the meaning of perseverance and love and believing in yourself and maybe even taking a chance in someone and you don't know why.

(A footnote to this story) After serving in Desert Storm, Robby was killed in the senseless bombing of the Alfred P. Murrah Federal Building in Oklahoma City in April of 1995, where he was reportedly....playing the piano. And now, a footnote to the story.

This story has been passed around by e-mail. It has not yet been proven to be a true story as no mention has been made of the exact name of the music teacher nor of the boy. The story proves that we all can make a difference. We all have thousands of opportunities a day to help realize God's plan. So many seemingly trivial interactions between two people present us with a choice: "Do we pass along a spark of the Divine?"

The Old Fisherman

Sunday, February 6, 2011

The old fisherman

Our house was directly across the street from the clinic entrance of Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore. We lived downstairs and rented the upstairs rooms to out-patients at the clinic.
One summer evening as I was fixing supper, there was a knock at the door. I opened it to see a truly awful looking man. "Why, he's hardly taller than my eight-year-old," I thought as I stared at the stooped, shriveled body. But the appalling thing was his face ... lopsided from swelling, red and raw. Yet his voice was pleasant as he said, "Good evening. I've come to see if you've a room for just one night. I came for a treatment this morning from the eastern shore, and there's no bus 'til morning."
He told me he'd been hunting for a room since noon but with no success. No one seemed to have a room. "I guess it's my face ... I know it looks terrible, but my doctor says with a few more treatments..."
For a moment I hesitated, but his next words convinced me. "I could sleep in this rocking chair on the porch. My bus leaves early in the morning."
I told him we would find him a bed, but to rest on the porch. I went inside and finished getting supper. When we were ready, I asked the old man if he would join us. "No thank you. I have plenty." And he held up a brown paper bag.
When I had finished the dishes, I went out on the porch to talk with him for a few minutes. It didn't take long time to see that this old man had an oversized heart crowded into that tiny body. He told me he fished for a living to support his daughter, her five children, and her husband, who was hopelessly crippled from a back injury.
He didn't tell it by way of complaint. In fact, every other sentence was preface with a thanks to God for a blessing. He was grateful that no pain accompanied his disease, which was apparently a form of skin cancer. He thanked God for giving him the strength to keep going.
At bedtime, we put a camp cot in the children's room for him. When I got up in the morning, the bed linens were neatly folded and the little man was out on the porch. He refused breakfast. But just before he left for his bus, haltingly, as if asking a great favor, he said, "Could I please come back and stay the next time I have a treatment? I won't put you out a bit. I can sleep fine in a chair."
He paused a moment and then added, "Your children made me feel at home. Grownups are bothered by my face, but children don't seem to mind."
I told him he was welcome to come again.
On his next trip he arrived a little after seven in the morning. As a gift, he brought a big fish and a quart of the largest oysters I had ever seen. He said he had shucked them that morning before he left so that they'd be nice and fresh. I knew his bus left at 4:00 a.m. and I wondered what time he had to get up in order to do this for us.
During the years he came to stay overnight with us, there was never a time that he did not bring us fish or oysters or vegetables from his garden. Other times we received packages in the mail, always by special delivery ... fish and oysters packed in a box with fresh young spinach or kale ... every leaf carefully washed. Knowing that he must walk three miles to mail these, and knowing how little money he had made the gifts doubly precious.
When I received these little remembrances, I often thought of a comment our next-door neighbor made after he left that first morning. "Did you keep that awful looking man last night? I turned him away! You can lose roomers by putting up such people!"
Maybe we did lose roomers once or twice. But oh! If only they could have known him, perhaps their illness' would have been easier to bear. I know our family will always be grateful to have known him. From him, we learned what it was to accept the bad without complaint and the good with gratitude to God.
Recently I was visiting a friend who has a greenhouse. As she showed me her flowers, we came to the most beautiful one of all ... a golden chrysanthemum, bursting with blooms. But to my great surprise, it was growing in an old dented, rusty bucket.
I thought to myself, "If this were my plant, I'd put it in the loveliest container I had!" My friend changed my mind.
"I ran short of pots," she explained," and knowing how beautiful this one would be, I thought it wouldn't mind starting out in this old pail. It's just for a little while, until I can put it out in the garden."
She must have wondered why I laughed so delightedly, but I was imagining such a scene in heaven. "Here's an especially beautiful one," God might have said when he came to the soul of the sweet old fisherman. "He won't mind starting in this small body."
All this happened long ago ... and now, in God's garden, how tall this lovely soul must stand.

10 Step to Be a Better Listener

1. Work On Your Body Language
Practice facing the person you’re listening to, maintaining eye contact with them, and maybe even leaning closer toward them. It’s easy for your body language to give off the impression that you’re notBody Language listening, so fight that by actively giving a speaker your full attention. If you do this, people will respond more positively to you because you’ll be giving them what they all want: a free therapist (the old-school psychoanalytic type, that is).
2. Analyze Speaker’s Body Language
While it’s helpful to be aware of your own body language, making sure to observe the body language of others is a powerful tool to encourage listening. A huge part of being a good listener is having the ability to empathize, to ask, “How might they feel about this, and can I put myself in their shoes?” By focusing on their body language, you’ll remind yourself that maybe others aren’t so different from you after all. When that comes, people will begin to open up to you even more, because you make them feel secure, cared for and important.
3. Don’t Interrupt
Seriously, let people finish. If you hate it when people interrupt you, do you really think others love it when you cut them off? Stop taking other people for granted. Even if you don’t think you do this, take a step back and re-examine your tendency to interrupt.
This is something I’ve struggled with – and will continue to, I’m sure – for so long. Hell, I’m even aware of it now and still I find myself interrupting people. Or, worse, ignoring them because I’m so concerned about interrupting them. When others see that you’re inviting them to speak, their first instinct will be to open up even more. It’s a positive reciprocal cycle: you’ll help them by acting as a sounding board, and they’ll be more apt to trust you, which leads to better relationships.
Interrupting Cow
Interrupting cow.
4. Encourage Others to Speak
Karma works for listening, too. If you encourage others to speak, chances are you’ll reap the benefits of that somewhere down the road. Nod when others speak, or use affirming words like “Yeah” and “Right.” Doing these things triggers positive responses in others – you’re consistently reminding them that they’re being heard, which means they’ll appreciate your confidence and interest in them.
5. “Mirror”
Restate what you’re hearing from another person, and do it in your own words. Or, at the very least, precede your responses with, “I hear you’re saying?” or “It sounds to me like you?” Not only does this disarm people, it can Mirrorprevent or defuse any misunderstandings, which is especially useful for potentially hostile situations. Learn the right times to mirror others. Better yet, learn how to do it so well that they won’t even know you’re doing it. See how much more engaging and productive your conversations are with people if you just throw them a bone and explicitly show them that you’re listening.
6. Avoid Arguments
As much as we’d all like to sometimes, we can’t go around picking fights – or even giving in to them. Find catharsis in restraint and in your temper. If you find yourself looking to avoid arguments, you’ll stop worrying about yourself so much and focus on the concerns of others. It will be easier to communicate with them on equal footing. This sets the stage for helpful, enjoyable conversations, as opposed to vengeful, invalidating ones.
7. Notice the Little Things
The key to any person’s heart is through details. Humans are naturally inclined to focus on a detail rather than the big picture. That’s because details resound more strongly within us – the more we know about something, the moreLittle Things we’re apt to empathize with it. This idea is especially true in advertising. We’re bombarded with over 3,000 unique ad messages every day, so how can advertisers get us to notice them? By giving us some detail about a product that we can use to humanize it, and make it more personal.
Remember, though, we first have to be interested in the product, so always make sure that you remind others how much you care about the little things in their lives. All it takes is the occasional remark or simple, unexpected gesture.
8. Don’t Try to Solve Other People’s Problems (unless they ask)
Men are often guilty of this, and I’m probably more guilty of this than any man on Earth. I was raised to be a problem solver. In my family, solving your own problems is a badge of honor. It’s a way to prove your ability to handle “real life.” And that’s great, up to a certain point. But as soon as you start venturing into the realm of solving other people’s problems, you’ve crossed a line if you’re offering unsolicited advice.
We all have problems. There’s nothing wrong with asking for help. Just don’t go donning your superhero problem-solver cape every time somebody tries to talk to you. Sometimes people just want to talk?and talk?and be heard. So remember to leave room in your heart and in your head for the restraint to be “there” for someone without trying to solve all their problems.
9. Don’t Judge
If someone isn’t honest with you, it’s probably because they feel you’re going to judge them and make them feel inadequate. Maybe you’ve done that in the past. If so, that stops now. Humans are naturally terrified of rejection, so it’s vital to give others the same kind of affirmation that we’d want for ourselves. Reassuring other people that you’ve got an open mind is a good way to avoid judging and to establish trust.
Judge
10. Be Honest
Honesty is everything. If I’ve claimed that anything is more important to listening than honesty, then I was wrong. Truth begets truth, but being truthful is so terrifying, because it means trusting others with the important facts of our lives. But how can you expect honesty if you yourself refuse total, brutal honesty. Sure, there are times when white lies are okay, and sometimes even the best choice, but in situations where you’re demanding the truth, you’d do well to offer the truth first. There’s no greater feeling in the world than knowing you can confide in someone. Well, except for knowing they can confide in you.
Keep these thoughts in mind. Practice them on a daily basis. There’s nothing people love more than being listened to. That’s in part why so many people visit therapists and counselors. The more objective, active and engaged listener you work to be, the more fulfilling your conversations will become.Potato Head
All it takes is two ears, a brain, and a little effort and empathy.
I think we can all manage that.

We Need You,Lord

We Need You, Lord
We need you, Lord.
Like lost wanderers in a burning, empty desert
thirst for cool, clean water,
we long for you to quench us.
In a world gone progressively mad,
with chaos all around us,
we seek refuge in the order and purpose of your law.
With evil sneaking, leaking everywhere,
spreading heavy darkness,
creating feelings of emptiness,
we hunger for your goodness and light.
Turn us around, Lord, we pray;
retrieve your sheep who have gone astray.
Draw us to the satisfaction
of your purity and righteousness.
Cleanse us, and make us more like you,
role models, examples, beacons,
for others who are searching for meaning for their lives.
Come, Lord Jesus.
We need you, Lord.

Love story

Tuesday, January 18, 2011
As I sat there in English class,
I stared at the girl next to me
She was my so called 'best friend '
I stared at her long, silky hair,
and wished she was mine
But she didn't notice me like that,
and I knew it...
After class, she walked up to me and
asked me for the notes
she had missed the day before
I handed them to her
She said 'thanks' and left...
I want to tell her, I want her to know
that I don't want to be just friends,
I love her but I'm just too shy,
and I don't know why...

11th Grade...

The phone rang...On the other end,
it was her...She was in tears,
mumbling on and on about how her
love had broke her heart
She asked me to come over because
she didn't want to be alone, So I did
As I sat next to her on the sofa,
I stared at her soft eyes, wishing she was mine
After 2 hours, one Drew Barrymore movie,
and three bags of chips, she decided to go home
She looked at me, said 'thanks' and left...
I want to tell her, I want her to know that
I don't want to be just friends,
I love her but I'm just too shy,
and I don't know why...

Senior year...

One fine day she walked to my locker
"My date is sick" she said, "hes not gonna go well",
I didn't have a date, and in 7th grade,
we made a promise that if neither of us had dates,
we would go together just as 'best friends'
So we did...That night, after everything was over,
I was standing at her front door step
I stared at her as She smiled at me
and stared at me with her crystal eyes
Then she said- "I had the best time, thanks!" and
left...
I want to tell her,
I want her to know
that I don't want to be just friends,
I love her but I'm just too shy,
and I don't know why...

Graduation...

A day passed, then a week, then a month
Before I could blink, it was graduation day
I watched as her perfect body floated like an angel
up on stage to get her diploma
I wanted her to be mine-but
she didn't notice me like that, and I knew it
Before everyone went home,
she came to me in her smock and hat,
and cried as I hugged her
Then she lifted her head from my shoulder
and said- 'you're my best friend, thanks' and left...
I want to tell her, I want her to know
that I don't want to be just friends,
I love her but I'm just too shy,
and I don't know why...

Marriage...

Now I sit in the pews of the church
That girl is getting married now
and drive off to her new life,
married to another man
I wanted her to be mine,
but she didn't see me like that,
and I knew it...
But before she drove away,
she came to me and said 'you came! '
She said 'thanks' and left...
I want her to know that
I don't want to be just friends,
I love her but I'm just too shy,
and I don't know why...

Death...

Years passed, I looked down at the coffin
of a girl who used to be my 'best friend'.
At the service, they read a diary entry
she had wrote in her high school years
This is what it read:
"I stare at him wishing he was mine;
but he doesn't notice me like that,
and I know it. I want to tell him,
I want him to know that
I don't want to be just friends,
I love him but I'm just too shy,
and I don't know why...
I wish he would tell me he loved me ! "
...'I wish I did too'...
I thought to my self, and I cried.....

" Do yourself a favour, tell her/him you love them...
They won't be there...................Forever

Stop?I don't think so

The Lesson of the Homeless Man

The Lesson of the Homeless Man
(Unknown Author)
It was a cold winter's day that Sunday. The parking lot to the church was filling up quickly. I noticed as I got out of my car fellow church members were whispering among themselves as they walked in the church.
As I got closer I saw a man leaned up against the wall outside the church. He was almost laying down as if he was asleep. He had on a long trench coat that was almost in shreds and a hat topped his head, pulled down so you could not see his face. He wore shoes that looked 30 years old, too small for his feet, with holes all over them, his toes stuck out.
I assumed this man was homeless, and asleep, so I walked on by through the doors of the church.
We all fellowshipped for a few minutes, and someone brought up the man laying outside. People snickered and gossiped but no one bothered to ask him to come in, including me.
A few moments later church began. We all waited for the Preacher to take his place and to give us the Word, when the doors to the church opened.
In came the homeless man walking down the aisle with his head down.
People gasped and whispered and made faces.
He made his way down the aisle and up onto the pulpit where he took off his hat and coat. My heart sank.
There stood our preacher...he was the "homeless man."
No one said a word.
The preacher took his Bible and laid it on his stand.
"Folks, I don't think I have to tell you what I am preaching about today. If you judge people, you have no time to love them."

Love story from china

by unknown, submitted by Ps. F. Wirayadi
